The motivation hack that will change your life.

Today I came across a post on a Weight Watchers message board from someone struggling and asking for help to get motivated.

It's a sentiment I hear all too often.  So, I wanted to share my response:

What makes it difficult to achieve a goal is forcing yourself to do something because you think you should or think you need to.

In fact, doing that typically creates resistance and makes it feel even HARDER.  


What creates motivation is knowing deep down what you truly want for yourself. It’s about tapping into the WHY behind your desire to lose weight.

Bring clarity to your WHY instead of trying to figure out WHAT to do or fretting over what you have to give up.

Instead of dwelling on the sacrifices you think you'll have to make, envision how amazing you'll feel in your favorite clothes, how confident you'll be in social settings, and how proud you'll feel.

Here’s the best news of all …

You’ll start feeling better as soon as you get started. You won’t have to wait until you reach your goal to feel all of the positive emotions that accompany progress.

As your confidence grows so will your drive to keep going. You’ll be building momentum. And, success breeds motivation!

I just love this saying.

"Where focus goes, energy flows."

So, if you want to create more motivation for yourself, spend time thinking about WHY you WANT this for yourself rather than giving airtime to what you’re trying to escape.

Watch that small shift in imagination unleash just the boost of energy you need to make your dreams come true.
