Caught in a Slip? Here’s How to Avoid the Slide!

I think you’ll be able to relate to this conversation I had with a client yesterday.

Just a few weeks ago, she was feeling amazing.

She’d lost 10 pounds without any struggle.

But when we talked yesterday, things were different...

She told me she’d gained a few pounds back and couldn’t even remember what she was doing before that made it feel so easy.

She was tempted to throw in the towel and convinced herself that if she wasn’t currently losing weight, nothing she did mattered.

Sound familiar?

It’s so easy to forget how much our actions matter. Yet we all know where the “off-track” path leads, and it’s not where we want to go.

When I asked how she’d been feeling this past week, she shared that she’d been feeling a bit blue because of something going on in her life.

But, she hadn’t yet made the connection between her life stress and how she’d slipped back into her old habit of using food to make herself feel better.

Of course it was feeling harder!

Life is like that. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s not. And our food choices? Pretty much the same deal.

The key is to turn things around before a slip becomes a slide. Here's how we did it for her:

  1. Expect slips to happen. They’re not a problem; what matters is what you do next.

  2. Get a few wins under your belt. Just a few small successes can help you feel more confident and back on track.

  3. Have a “get back on track” plan. For me, it’s about going back to my regular breakfast routine.

Now, it’s your turn! What’s your plan to get back on track?

Think about it, jot it down, and keep it handy.

You’ve got this!

And remember, you’re not alone on this journey. I’m just an email away if you want some support.
